    2014 Corvette PlatstiDip Project

A few months ago I plastidpped my 2004 Silverado. I used Frozen Blue plus their new Dip Armor Clear Coat

It was a fun project. I learned a lot. I want to try again.

The corvette project will take longer as it has clear bra on several areas that I have to remove first.

I removed the clear bra on one mirror today to test. Whew. This will be the hardest part of this project

Pretty sure I am going with Extra Lime body with black grill, wheels trim. Etc,

    Hey David,
Nice car, I had a question.

Does PPF, cause any damage to clear coat if you have it on long period of time?

Like when you’re removing it, does it not lock at the paint?

I was interested in just knowing

It can sometimes take the clear/paint with it. It is also a PIA to remove most times!

In for updates on this epic dip project!!

    More clear bra removal

Knocked out a lower rear panel and a front fender after work tonight

The steamer worked better than the heat gun for me

Most of the paint looks flawless after all the glue was removed.

A couple spots on the front fender seemed a little cloudy. I didn't bother trying to polish it as I'll be covering it all up soon

Got the hang of removing the old clear bra!
Used a steamer and pulled and steamed continuously too

After removing the clear bra left a slight haze or cloudiness.

    I tried a few things

Mineral spirits worked the best by far! Misted on with a sprayer than atomized it super well.
    Wiped off

I have a few spots left that will need to be taken down with the eraser wheel

Low rpms on a weaker right angle drill (I know eraser wheels can harm painted plastics)

Try a small test spot of some diluted DIF used for wallpaper removal, just don't let it sit too long as you want to be able to peel off as a sheet not scraps.

    DIF?

For removing the last bits of the glue instead of the eraser wheel? Or instead of the mineral spirits for the cloudiness?

Try it on both, I had a co-worker pull his film off a 2005 BMW and he swore by the easy of removal. However he started the process with it too.

That looks kinda scary. I’d hate to have to do that. Lol.
