Cool. That should get you touched up easily.

Looking forward to some more daytime shots of the Vette!!

    Re: 2014 Corvette PlatstiDip Project

When you say you missed a spot, do you mean with the dip product or the dip armor?

The dip product can't be sprayed with a HVLP or RP gun, correct? So, there is no way you can spray it with an airbrush, correct?

    Re: 2014 Corvette PlatstiDip Project

    What is RP gun?

I can use the same sprayer I sued to spray it the first time. But I want to spray a super small Area. That's the only reason I went with an airbrush

The gun setup I used is there advanced turbine sprayer system. (I think it is a semi hvlp system)

    Re: 2014 Corvette PlatstiDip Project

RP guns are supposed to be closer to an evolved conventional sprayer. I think RP stands for reduced pressure. They spray at a little higher pressure than HVLP and put out less volume. I believe they use them in areas where HVLP isn't mandated (But, that would be a regulated shop situation. I don't think there is anything preventing an individual from using either.) I think the advantage they have is they atomize the material better.

The reason I asked the question is DYC states you can't spray their regular dip products with a compressed air system. So, I was wondering if you were able to do that or if you were just using it to touch up Dip Armor (which i think can be sprayed with compressed air sprayers).

I would like to try the product if it can be sprayed with a HVLP or RP setup. But, I don't want to get a gallon of it and go, oh sh#t.

    Re: 2014 Corvette PlatstiDip Project

I know they make high end products that work in the air compressor setups

For the airbrush I have sprayed the Avalanche gray and the extra lime. I did need to thin it a little bit

Im excited to mess around with this airbrush set :-)

I think hvlp can be used if you have the correct needle size etc

Ive seen some nice full metal $200 upgraded gun setups too that hook to their advanced turbine and some earlex sprayer systems too

    Re: 2014 Corvette PlatstiDip Project

Yeah, the tip size isn't a problem. Iwata makes a gun that's popular for spraying primers (Airgunsa AZ3 HTE2). It has tip sizes up to 3.5 (1.8 is a basic primer size; 2.0-2.5 usually for high build poly primers). This gun would have no problem pushing out dip.

So, the issue is will the atomization of these guns create a quality finish with dip. I guess I'm trying to find that out without paying for a gallon of the stuff.

Maybe I should just buy a close out gallon for 30 something and give it a try.

Looks pretty different in a lot of lighting situations.

    Loving the satin finish.
