    Any lawn care experts here?

I’m here in Michigan, cool season grass.

This spring I zapped quite a few spots in my lawn with round up. There was a lime green crabgrass grass that crept in, really thick like carpet. I reseeded those spots with a mixture I made of 70% pure bluegrass and 30% quick grow seed, ryegrass I think.

That was over two months ago. Now this is what I’ve got happening everywhere. Bright, tall grass that grows super fast, with a ton of bluegrass coming in slowly behind it.

This was my first try at reseeding. Will this look even remotely uniform by late fall, or even next year? Or did I make a mistake trying to establish bluegrass this way?

This looks like garbage, and I’m wishing I had used KBG sod to repair these spots.

    Thoughts?

As an owner of multiple dogs, I gave up on having any semblance of a nice lawn years ago. Lol

I hope someone can help you out, Eric.

Its just like grey hair. You don't care you're just happy it didn't fall out. Look at your grass the same way. Its looks healthy, it's green and lush. Who cares if its a shade off. Looks good.

Perhaps the surrounding grass will encompass it more and it will be less noticeable in time. Beats being weeds, that’s for sure. Every year I’ve been battling weeds and finally this year I have a lot less.
Treat it like it's the only one in the world.

The rye grass is used to hold the other seed and establish a lawn.It will dye off by next year and your lawn will be some what spotty. But in time it will fill out.
    That is my experience.

Lol as a owner of many dogs I’ve become quite the lawn geek. Most times the new grass is much brighter green and if you do it right(which looks like you did) the new grass receives much more water and again takes on the bright green look. When buying seed a mix is better but most of the quick grow grass is an annual and won’t come back next year and bluegrass is better planted in fall. Most times the lawn will even out

Aerate the whole yard in early fall and then overseed the whole yard with a mix of KBG and fine fescue (90/10 or 85/15). Ryegrass is popular because it will fill in areas quickly but it is not very durable.

MSU Entension is a great resource for landscaping/gardening info.
