Re: Other hobbies or past times outside of detailing

I collect vintage car ads. Specifically Cadillac ads that were in Time/Life Magazine. All the ads are in near mint condition and I’ve put each 1 in their own acid free bag & board for long term storage. Each ad measures 11”x14”

    Starting with the 1970’s

A couple of my favorites from the 70’s

    The late 1960’s

    Early 1960’s

    Late 1950’s

    Early 1950’s

    1940’s

And all these ads are from the 1930’s all the way back to 1906.

    1930’s [Cadillac V 16 on the left]

    1920’s

    These are from 1906.

This is them in 1 big stack. About 400 ads all together.

Re: Other hobbies or past times outside of detailing

The ads are sort of an afterthought/just for fun stuff.. My main collection has to do with Cadillac brochures. Here’s where I really lost my mind and spent more money than I care to admit. Lol.

I’ve never put together a post where I’ve tried to display them all because it would probably take me half a day. It’s about 400-500 brochures in all, and they’re stored in the drawers of this big dresser.

I’ve got at least 1 Prestige Cadillac Brochure [the largest 1 they make] from the current year, all the way back to 1930.

I even have some in Japanese text. These are extremely rare and hard to find.

    Continued on next post..

Other hobbies or past times outside of detailing

Bare with me, just a couple more pics I’d like to show.

This 1931 Cadillac Sixteen Brochure is among the most sought after Cadillac brochures they ever made. There’s a place called Troxells which sells automobile literature and last I checked they have this brochure priced @$600.00 dollars but it’s not in stock.

But I have 1.Other hobbies or past times outside of detailing This brochure has a pouch on the back page that contains 16 or 32 [sorry it’s been a long time since I opened it] original custom designs that you could order your Cadillac Sixteen on thin tissue like paper. Every drawing is there and in mint condition, like new. This brochure measures 11”x14”

This next batch of brochures are some of the oldest and rarest Cadillac brochures in my collection. Dating from 1904-1916. These tend to be very expensive if you can even find them for sale.

This was probably my biggest score ever. Original vintage 1904 Cadillac full line brochure. There’s not too many they made before this 1 and the only other 1 that I know of in existence is in a museum in St. Louis.
Some lady put this up for sale on Ebay and I happened to be searching the moment it went up for $100 obo. I offered $50 and she sold it. Unbelievable.Other hobbies or past times outside of detailing

I’ve never seen anyone price this brochure, but I consider it priceless. At least $1,000 maybe 2. I wouldn’t take anything less.Other hobbies or past times outside of detailing

    Thanks for reading.

That brochure collection is incredible! And I bet you'll never sell it. They look like something that ought to be brought to car shows. When I showed my car I displayed all my literature in the trunk. Helped me win first in my class.

That’s awesome. How long ago was that? What was the name of the class?

Oh, it was a long time ago; back in 2005 or 2006. Sadly my county doesn't do car shows any more I won first in my class for 1980s cars.

I can imagine how rewarding that must feel. Especially being responsible for having your car look the way it does. It’s not like if you hired a detailer to do the work.

Yes I did all the work myself. It was a moment of pride for sure!

I absolutely love that ad and brochure collection. One of the coolest things I’ve seen on Autogeek, or really any forum. I love the 50s and 60s ads.

And $1-$2k for that one brochure. If offered, don’t take it. You only know of 1 more in existence, you could very well have it severely under valued in that guess. Plus, $2k doesn’t get you very far today.

Be very proud of that, great collection.
