If you need to find software experts to discuss such questions i can recommend you check:

Spam Link Removed - Mike Phillips

I get all information about software from their experts.

I'm not sure how you got by me, I'm pretty good at this. I re-ran your e-mail and IP address through Google and yep - you are a bonafide Spammer.

    See ya!

Re: Software Experts? - ZOOM is Malware?

Just tried Zoom last night for a group event, wish I had read this earlier, the head picked that software resource.

Anyway in the corporate world two contenders are used: Skype and MS Teams. Teams is nice as you can use it on the web and not required to download the app. Both of these products I believe are owned by Microsoft these days. As to call quality, both are good. I use a Logitech headset with built in microphone on the left ear so it keeps the quality up for both input and output (connection by USB port).

This morning I went to Skynet and typed in,

    ZOOM problems

And more, current articles come up sharing problems and concerns.

Cnet.com was one source I saw. Didn't take the time to >click< and read.

Like I mentioned previously in this thread, everyone can do as they will. Me? I just got this new laptop and I'm loving it.

I'm not risking downloading something that supposedly installs little web servers in the operating system that then send info out to who knows where?

I shared this with the IDA this morning. I see that Malco products is inviting people to join a ZOOM webcast on interior detailing with Justin Labato. I'm sure the content will be good but for now, I'm not going to participate in anything ZOOM.

Thanks for this everyone! I used it for the first time last week for a 'feel good' meeting the person that oversees my building put together. It is odd the organizer was allowed to use Zoom, as we are very vigilante on other software we use (a banking software company).

When a friend suggesting using it for a chat, I told them we preferred Facetime. I will forward these links to her.

Love your set-up. Not sure I mentioned it in your home office thread or forgo to.

I'm working from home. Not an ideal set-up. Working off a company laptop (8 years old) on a small desk that is barely 2' feet wide or so. Attached a separate 24" monitor on a stand to lift it up a bit (cuz minimal desk size).

Anyway...my personal laptop died recently (was using it on a dinner tv tray) alongside my other ones. That one was from 2007. LOL yes, old.
Soooo, i'm waiting for my new one to arrive. Anxiously waiting. About time, if you ask me! I'll definitely NOT be adding Zoom to it. NOPE.

I work from home now, and we mostly use Skype for meetings. When all this crap hit, Zoom seemingly popped up all of a sudden because of the demand for such a product during the 'new normal'. I'm not shocked that it's chock full of security concerns.

Re: Software Experts? - ZOOM is Malware?

From what I hear about Zoom one major problem is how you invite folks to your conference. It seems some people are just putting the link out in the open for anyone to join in. When you do this you get the “Zoom Bombers” who enjoy sending porn and extreme videos. There is a whole Reddit forum teaching a@@holes how to ruin Zoom meetings. You need to send out personal invites and tell others not to open share them.

I watched Jim Cramers interview with the CEO of Zoom. Since it is free now you get all kinds of animals spamming your video conferences. The software is not to blame (as long as you don’t mind using Chinese servers). Just like we get spammers here on Autogeek. Don’t blame the game, blame the player.

Re: Software Experts? - ZOOM is Malware?

Zoom is basically an unfinished product, marketed to the masses. 20-years ago this would have been considered a "finished product"; but no more. Even implementing sound technologies half-arsed will destroy a brand or initiative for years to come. Same-old story, trying to make a quick-buck; who ever in their right mind goes public with their main product being video conferencing? The greedy. It boggles the mind.
