    Good'ol Dealership and detailing

I recently had the RS in for inspection and oil change.
While I was waiting I expressed interest in the Ranger (my husband is looking to buy one a little down the road) so a salesman gladly let me check one out and test drive it.

Afterwards he pointed out a few upgrades that were added on the order of it, including black wheels...

Salesman: I love black wheels because you never have to worry about brake dust and washing them.

No black wheels for me. I wonder if they are here to stay or are just passing.
Treat it like it's the only one in the world.

I guess he sees brown wheels covered in rusty brake dust the same as black.
Last month we got a new car for my wife and while in there I heard some sales guy trying to sell a "glass coating" to a car buyer. Not a coating for the glass but that's what he called the entire coating to be used on the car. Said they could do that really quick while prepping his new car. I wanted to step in and say that any coating that can be done really quick is not worth it at all but kept quiet. Of course when offered to me I denied all extras immediately.

Yup, heard the same spiels at dealers and have wanted to say something as well. Sadly most of the time the customer would look at you weird too.

When I Worked at Hyundai dealership they sold a ceramic coating called GlassCoat that we put on the new cars this was like 10 years ago I barely knew what it was so I bet the sales people knew even less. I think we would just wash, clay ,dry and coat the car :/

    I work at a dealership.

The "detailing" they do is for the 99% of people who don't know a swirl from a squirrel like Mike says.

I can't even look at the "detail" guys as they are marring the hell out of a brand new car or truck.

We here are looking out into the Matrix... we all have are eyes wide open to the harsh reality of swirls.
