    Forum Maintenance

    Forum Maintenance

    Just a heads-up, yesterday while typing out descriptions for my MTE classes for 2020, in the background I was updating various settings on this forum including Post Counts. Overtime the multiple databases that make up all the different statistics and accounting get corrupted and vBulletin has a built-in function to re-count and rebuild these databases.

    So if you see your post count has changed, or any other setting that has changed, it's do to some normal forum maintenance that actually rebuilds accuracy.

    {‘Not that post count matters one jot in my book’.}

    •Howbeit:
    -The last couple ‘accuracy rebuilding’ events
    have now taken away ~4,000 of my posts.

    •Nevertheless:
    For all that, I still plan to stick around on
    this Forum—not a whit the less resolutely;
    and, will continue to post undismayed.

    Damn, I hope they weren't the 4,000 good ones.........
    It is no coincidence that man's best friend cannot talk.

    •Me, good ones?
    -OK...I, arguably, must say:
    Yes; at least a few.

    -Probably were mixed in with some
    posts that were full of poppycock,
    illogicality, and fatuity.

    •But any post, is a post.
    -Or: maybe not.

    Bob

    Bob,

    My post count changed too, I don't remember by how many posts but I don't worry about.

    Why?

    Because I didn't lose any posts or threads. It's a glitch.

    Look at your posting history. Find a single post or thread you've created that is now missing.

    I don't know why or how this happens as I'm not a vBulletin Mechanic. What I do from time to time is go into the maintenance section of the Admin Panel and tell the forum software to update about 10 to 15 parameters. It's an auto-run feature and it basically cleans-up erroneous data in the databases.

    I have not run the auto-run maintenance features for some time, possible over a year.

    I can guarantee you - there is nothing nefarious taking place on my actions or the actions of anyone at Autogeek.
