Re: Anyone else jack themselves up detailing?

Ouch! Came out of unscathed, but awhile back I washing the Escape. Once the driveway ends, there is grass on both sides. Grabbed my Griots wash bucket to move it, next thing I knew I was on the ground. Slipped on the wet grass. Broke the bucket handle. But I was ok. I was lucky. Get well soon!

    True.
I had sepsis in my left elbow about five years ago. It was bad enough that they had to remove the infected tissue. Took over two years to get the strength and mobility back in that arm. I still get tendonitis it that elbow about one per year.
That and still having a job that sometimes requires me to handle construction materials around. To quote Danny Glover in Lethal Weapon: "I'm too old for this s**t."

Re: Anyone else jack themselves up detailing?

At first I thought the question was about jacking up the vehicle while working. Suppose that could still apply. I just bought a much better detailing chair (one with a back) and I made some wood ramps from stacked 2x6 to use with oil changes. I am going to try them while detailing to see if that helps.

I have had back problems for years and years. About a year ago it got back and I had surgery to help with 2 disc bulges. While it helped, I noticed that I still have some issues. More so recently. I really think exercise is the way to ward off many of these issues. I'm convinced that strong/maintained muscles are the real secret to fending off a lot of these injuries. I noticed that many of my pains when away when I was walking on my treadmill (I walk with a % of an incline).

I’m 46 and I always hurt after detailing. Horrible back (bulging disks) and one weird knee will do that. Can’t wait for 50!

Hope ur feeling better. Get well soon.

So true...all of this. After 50 the deterioration accelerates. I'll spare the laundry list problems but God willing I can still detail...at least on an enthusiast level.

Re: Anyone else jack themselves up detailing?

My old back and old shoulders bother me after a full detailing session with complete paint correction. I recently tore my ACL in my right knee and decided against surgery. I have been doing physical therapy twice a week and it has worked wonders. I still have trouble squatting down to work on wheels but I use the speed cart. Fellow forum members gave me great advice. That is to let your body heal and then slowly get back into the detailing routine.

Holy hell, that sucks! As we age, it's no wonder that we step off a curb, and have bad issues with joints being damaged.

Wish you the best, that all gets better soon, with a total re-healing.

Re: Anyone else jack themselves up detailing?

I find it strange that I now wake up with (or develop during the course of the day) a freak pain in the knee, elbow, neck, etc. that will magically be gone that night or the next day.

    Is it a precursor? Omen?

I'll be 50 in March. Seems like I was 25 about a week ago. Where did the time go?? Lol
It is no coincidence that man's best friend cannot talk.

Bulging disks always brings me back to steve levy's slip up on sportscenter...when I was younger I had lesions on my spinal cord so I am sympathetic for all with back problems..everyone take care of that back
