Re: Dawn Dish Soap/Degreaser.... : "Including Greasy Car Rims"

I tried something last week on a client's trashed wheels. I have a spray bottle of water mixed with about an ounce of Palmoline dish soap that I use to clean emblems on the cars. I tried to do 1 wheel with it to compare with my other 2 products : Meguiar's Non-Acid Wheel Cleaner 2:1 and P&S Breakbuster (undiluted).

The palmolive solution did clean the wheel but the result was much poorer than the other 2 products. I had to re-clean it with Meg's afterwards.

In a pinch, it would work, but it's not a good product to do the work.

The stuff probably works as well as any car wash soap would. The problem is grease really isn’t a significant contaminant on filthy wheels. If the wheels are just dusty any type of soap would work.
