Canauba comes from Brazil, its not an American plant. I would think Brazilian knows how to pronounce it.

BTW, in Portugese, Canauba is even written as CARNAÚBA.

Since you asked who knew about the correct pronunciation... I did. I'm from Brazil so of course I can say it right but since we're in a different country I never got mad when people said it wrong. Hell, I think when I'm speaking to another person here I'll say it incorrectly just because that's how people say it here.

I lived in Campinas when I was a young boy. My sister's went to school in Sao Paulo. What a fantastic country!

I’m from São Paulo. Moved to the US 13.5 years ago. Now I visit Brazil when possible but don’t want to go live there again.
