    Lifetime ain't as long as it used to be...

    You buy a Magellan GPS, it advertises "Free Lifetime Map Updates & Traffic Alerts".




    Turns out their "lifetime" is "considered to be 3 (three) years from the date of first use. lol.

    So, they they go by electronic years - kind of like dog years. Still, 3 years seems a little low for that product

    lifetime map updates until that particular model is discontinued and/or no longer can take them. they are kinda like cell phones, a new/updated version seems to come out frequently, then rendering that one useless. i just use the gps app on the cell phone and while not perfect, does the job good enough...
