Lol. My wife is the same way. That said, you know UncleDavy is kidding, right? I met him personally, and I can tell you if his wife wanted to drive, she'd be driving.

As for the beater truck, Amen. I am actually looking at one as we speak.

It took 27 seconds to get to my car. Less than half a minute is what people complain about, lol.
Tell your friends you’re not only preventing door dings you’re:

-Being eco-friendly, further away mean less fuel burned.

    - Getting 1 more minute of exercise..

    - lastly, it’s easier to find your car, when it’s isolated out in the boonies

The car actually is under house arrest but I let her use my truck or I take her to wherever she needs to go.

Re: When it pays to have your significant other be a "car person"

This thread sounds like my wife and I with me being the car guy. She appreciates driving her "clean" vehicle, which can be either of the 2 we currently have. But she also thinks I spend too much attention on them making them look better than showroom quality. She says she's always afraid of scratching or dinging one of them because of how they look.

However, something must be rubbing off on her, because she will also park away from certain things in parking lots now too LOL! She has also never complained about where I park either, because she gets why I do it. And dirt roads, ya, forget about it haha!

We are getting a "beater" tomorrow that is in need of a lot of paint correction. It will be a winter car, and eventually passed down to my daughter in a couple of years when she turns 16. Just because it's a beater, doesn't mean you can't make it look presentable right?!

I imagine so it can sit there and look good. My take is that I get my 2 mins of "wow" factor once I'm done. If it gets driven 5 mins later that's out of my hands.

It's a little like decorating a cake and asking people not to eat it.

I'm thinking that is what he does as well. I kinda do the same thing, clean one up, and drive the other. I'm sure my wife would give me the stink eye if I told her not to drive it! That would make her take it even faster haha!

That is so it is in pristine condition when she drives it to work on Monday morning. Her Buick looks better than the president of the bank's Audi A8.

I won't valet. I won't park next to a minivan. I won't park next to a two door car. I won't park next to a car with rust or damage, and I always avoid parking next to a car with child car seats.

So, basically I drive around in circles until the sweet spot opens....but that means I'm usually late!

(I'll park in a dirt lot, however. Dirt comes off!)
