When it pays to have your significant other be a "car person"

And I am referring to myself as the "car person" in this case and that I "understood". A little humor here this morning...

A few weeks ago I talked my husband to taking me to a restaurant we hadn't been to in a while... it's on the pricey side but it's a fun drive on backroads and it was a nice evening so he agreed. We took the Alfa...

We get there and the place is packed. He drops me at the front door so I can put our name in while he goes and parks.
I was actually able to be seated right away.
I no sooner sit down at the table and I get a text from him that we are leaving.

Oh crap I think, so I get up and walk outside. He's waiting at the door for me. So I get in the car.

Apparently there were no open spots out front... he had to drive around to the overflow parking which isn't paved.
He basically said nope, not driving out there, turned around and texted me.

So we went someone where else for dinner instead

Next time we will have to take another car LOL

Been there. Did a wine tasting day with the wife a few weeks ago in her Boxster. Wanted to visit a few wineries we hadn't tried before, all close together. Got to one point and the road turned to do dirt. It was a well maintained road with no ruts or bumps. We gave each other the "no way in hell" look and turned around.

We'll go back with the SUV at some point.

Score one for the hubby! Way cool! I drop my significant other (if she is with friends) in the front and I will park very far away. She knows this and accepts it. Which is way cool! She sees what I do when I detail a ride and sees the difference with before and after results. I have no door dings are bumper scruff marks 6 - 7 years and counting. But let me not jinx myself and say yes I have a little ding somewhere! LOL

Great story. My beater car finally died (floor boards rusting out). My wife n I both have work trips where we have to park at airport or train station on different days for about a week each and those places have so much air pollution fall out or its like bumper cars in the garage parking area(the M4, the Cayman S and the IS350 are not parking at the airport/train station, the F150 is a pain at airport lots due to its size). So now we use Uber

I am huge fan of having a "beater" car to use for shopping and other tasks where cars tend to get damaged.

Sadly my "beater" will be going away come January and I will just have the RS. But the husband told me I can use his beater once in a while if I need to
