The worst thing around where I am is brown recluse spiders, and they don’t often make appearances. TON of wolf spiders around though, big suckers too. Black widows are also around some parts of MD.

I really hate spiders... like isn’t two legs enough? You know? Four tops, then I’m outta there Killed a Cottonmouth also called a Water MoccasinKilled a Cottonmouth also called a Water Moccasin

the brown recluse is no joke either! many years ago when i took the dogs to the vet there was a dog there (iirc german shepherd) that got bitten by one (top of the rear) and the skin/flesh looked liked it was melted/disintegrated and just looked plain nasty. they had to shave like half of the hair off on top...

And yes, this is the real deal... a Coral Snake

My sister-in-law got bit by a Copperhead, don't know if you have them there. The damage the venom from these snakes does is unbelievable.

I was trying to remember that phrase last night Dave. You nailed it!
It is no coincidence that man's best friend cannot talk.

    No thank you!

There are 2 types of poisonous snakes in Maryland. I was going to take the family on a hike at a nearby state park. There is a document on the website saying both types have been found on the trails. So no thank you.

Even worse, it is against the law to kill snakes, poisonous or otherwise. I wouldn’t go out of my way to kill them, but if one crossed my path I would strongly consider taking it out if necessary.

Once I could touch bottom I begin running in the water and up on to the gravel bank. I turned to see where the snake was and it just coming out of the water right behind me. I ran further and grabbed hand full of smaller rocks and pelted snake only then did it turn and go back into the water.

My cousin said he never hit the snake with big rocks but he did make a few big splashes that slowed snake down or it would have got to me in the water.

As for Copperheads I had one bite my big toe and this was adventure as well. Long story short 8 hours later in a bed in emergency room I had been lucky it was a dry bite.

No symptoms other than 2 punctures and very swollen black, blue, and red right big toe.
Lesson of this story, stop swimming in snake infested waters LOL!

Quite the adventures both times though

Only good thing about Canadian weather is that we don't have any of those nasty poisonous insects and snakes (as far as I know). Of course if you go further north you start getting polar bears and wolverines but where I live, the most dangerous thing around are cyclist not respecting any of the road laws

No one made an angry post about protecting snakes. Somehow Autogeek's forum seems immune to typical internet comments
    GOOD!

I wish I didn’t open this thread. I live in the northeast and am very satisfied with the lack of deadly animals in the region.

    Ugh, snakes spiders... so nasty.
