2024 Chicago Auto Show

So because of mandates and an unfortunate situation last year, I've made it back to the show this year. We also found out that only HALF of the McCormick Center was used, a first since I've been going️

Companies like Mercedes, Audi, Stellantis (whatever they're called this time) and Mitsubishi, to name a few, weren't even there. The rest had scaled down displays and missing cars (i.e. the IONIC5 N & Elantra N as an example)

I'm very hard on EV's and GM and VW but between the 3 of anyways, they impressed us the most with their EV efforts. The EV Equinox, Silverado and Blazer are truely impressive (too bad the gas powered ones didn't get the same effort) The I.D. Buzz is REALLY impressive, as is the I.D. 7 ??? (sedan), I mean REALLY nice

The famous Smoque BBQ in Chicago... half and half sandwich (sliced brisket & pulled pork), vinegar oil based slaw, Mac n Cheese, cornbread & peach cobbler...washed down with Coca-Cola️

Hope the show comes back full tilt next year

Yes sir in 22 the sheep had to mask up but they cut you a break by not requiring proof of vaccination. I still think if you were at an eating area then they required proof of vaccination. Seems like a long distant memory now. Edit found a link

Sorry...I did(n't) mean to get political but I honestly can't remember the specifics but I know I haven't been since Ford made cars...oh wait, they still make Mustangs but can't seem to get them to deserving owners on the bottom of our planet

Auto shows are dying a slow and painful death…like watching an old friend waste away. I’m originally from Detroit and what used to truly be an international class show is just sad.

They even tried moving it to the summer, because let’s face it…Detroit in January is brutal. After 2 years of that I read it’s headed back to January again.

With the cost of displaying at shows like this and competing for attention…the manufacturers have doubled down on doing virtual reveals on their own schedules.

Having put my 2 cents in, I hope I’m wrong. I remember when the LA, Detroit, Chicago and New York shows were amazing events and kept us car enthusiasts locked in from November of one year to March-April of the next year.
