What did you do today non-detailing related?

Yesterday my son and I stitched up a new leather steering wheel cover on our 2005 350z. The steering wheel is in excellent shape but we were just trying to update the interior a bit in prep for an upcoming local car show. The best part of doing this is definitely workin on the car w my son. He is 11yrs old and did about 75% of the stitching/sewing.

We are likely replacing the steering wheel altogether soon but thought this would be a fun project. We went w orange thread and 12 0’clock line because we have custom leather seats in the car and also orange brembo calipers. Here’s a pic of our work. Still need to tweak it a bit but its nearly there.

Installed a new air intake on my 350z today. I love the one I had but they don’t make a filter for it anymore so the manufacturer gave me 40% off a new one. Its not as aesthetically pleasing as my last one but its supposed to work better. I was able to keep the carbon fiber tube that I like from the last one and just mate it to the new velocity stack filter. Getting the heat shield required removing some parts so a typical 30 min job took over an hour. No CEL after I finished so thats a good start . Here are some before and after pics.

I’m working on getting this car to 300whp naturally aspirated. I do about 261 whp today w my current mods. I have some upgrades lined up and a retune and dyno session for October. I love this car but its hard to extract power from it and expensive. Most people tell me to go forced induction but I live in Jersey and the DMV always gives me a hard time as it is so I don’t need them having a reason to fail me. So thats why I’m building it slowly and naturally aspirated.

So this was from yesterday actually but a repeat customer asked me to do her Jeep. I started with Gyeon tire 3x's to get them clean. Then used Brake Buster on the rims and tires with various brushes. I then did pre-foam using 303 carwash and a 2BM. Using the leftover soap I grabbed my Griot's Garage fine clay mit and clayed the Jeep and then dried it off. For the LSP is used a graphine product I'm beta testing, so easy to use and produced great Gloss! I finished with 2x's TW tire coating.

The last 2 pics are from my trip into the city of Chucago. One is the ES looking good but looking better is my meal after a day of working on that Jeep. Baby back ribs, vinegar oil coleslaw, mac-n-cheese, cornbread and peach cobbler...16 ounce Coke because they carry quality soft drinks.

I was going to comment on the detail work, but I totally lost my train of thought with that BBQ rib pic, Rog.
