Mowed the lawn, again. More rain, more daylight, and warmer days, means this will have to happen much more often soon. Had to cut it at the highest setting, I couldn't mow it last weekend as it was sprayed for weeds and bindii, so had to be left for 5 days. FJ unlikely to be washed, roadworks are still in progress on our main road.

One of my clients is mad keen on bee keeping, they have 3 active hives within their suburban back yard. It's spring so they bees are having a field day with all the plants in flower at the moment.

When they are happy, you can get as close as you like to the hive, the bees simply go about their business, some will come and see who you are but generally just carry on with that they are doing.

The owners have actually caught two swarms in the last two weeks, one of which I was present for. When angry, they are nasty little buggers, requiring either the usual beekeepers suit or being far back from where it's all going on. I actually got stung on the head and jaw, even at a seemingly safe distance.

The honey they harvest has a deliciously fragrant aroma and I can actually smell the garden in their produce. On a warm day, the whole garden is scented with sweet honey.

It's a fascinating process to see in action and wonder how many don't realize what role these little guys play in human life. No bees=no food!

Cut grass Sunday. Light misting of rain. Could not do it Saturday. Weather was rainy. Optimistically I hope that is the last cut of the year.

I was outside applying a fresh layer of tire coating when I saw this…

Do you think it’s in a safe spot for them to patch it up? I’ve got the included tire maintenance care pack from Discount Tire which I believe includes free flat tire repair. Do you think they’ll fix it without a hassle?

Hard to tell exactly what that is from the picture

I would absolutely try to have them fix it

Having said that I admit one of the larger name brand local shops has started a “1/4 inch or smaller” policy

They won’t even try to repair anything you bring in if the object is over 1/4”

That’s absolute rubbish of course but that’s their policy

I’m sure it’s partly a liability thing and partly a “let’s sell more tires” thing

The small independent tire shops are happy to repair stuff that the big shop won’t but if course it’s out of pocket

Let us know how that plays out

I think it could depend on who looks at it as to whether or not they'd repair. I've been told that if it's within an inch of the sidewall, it's a tire replacement. If you do get it repaired, I'd ask them to put it on the outside if they're non-directional tires so you'd be able to see any issues later.

Did you check it with a little soap solution to see if it's leaking? That's the first thing I'd do. If it's not leaking, then grab it with some sidecutter's and pull it out. If you hear it starting to leak while removing it then pound it back in and head to the tire shop -or- the parts store and buy a plug repair kit.

It's possible that the screw is short enough that it didn't actually puncture the tire. I've been lucky in that respect more than once.

Went for a nice long walk in a while and got a nice blister!

That's my body's way of saying (harden up!) and go more often
