I painted my windshield wiper arms.

We wanted this tree down so a friend came over and helped me start by taking some of the limbs down first. Will take the rest of the tree down in the next couple of weeks.

Today's progress... Finished up the detail part machining and started the initial (dry fit) assembly.


Machining...5.5 hours plus about another hour to slap together the router jig out of scraps of plywood.

Finished the dry fit assembly today. About 5.5 hours.

Tomorrow I'll check the fit to the intended trailer and bikes just for confirmation. Then I'll disassemble, do some edge treatments, and do the final assembly with glue-up.

What are you going to paint/protect the wood with? I utilize Duratex for some subwoofer enclosures, which is a water-based durable coating similar to bedliner but incredibly easy to apply.

I'm going to try to get out of painting it and see if the customer wants to do that himself. If I can't talk him into it I'll probably prime it with Zinser 123 and finish it with a gloss exterior latex.

Customer brought the bike over for a test fit - Fits like a glove...



I'll finish this up next week. I'm going to be playing with my new Rupes Mille that arrived today in the near-term.

Started the final glue-up assembly of the bike rack.

Decided to do the final assembly outside because this thing is big enough that it would be a pain to get it out of my workshop fully assembled. I think I could have done it but it was close. Glad I live in CA... It was around 70 here today.

The infeed support and outfeed table of my table saw doubled as an assembly station today.

About another hour of glue-up work tomorrow and then it will be ready for sanding and paint.

Finished the bike rack glue-up and then decided to whip up a wall mount bracket for my new Rupes Mille.



Not sure yet if I'm going to rework my existing polisher rack to add the Rupes Polisher to it, or just hang it as a stand-alone right around the corner. The existing rack might become too crowded with the Rupes. We'll see.
