Re: I am lost right now
Great news, Dave! Try to keep your stress level down (for both you and the Dude). Stress can have a huge impact on a person's physical health. And get some sleep!

Re: I am lost right now
Hoping for more good news, Dave! Pets are family too and anybody that doesn't feel that way has probably never had one.
Our boxer is as much a part of our family as our two kids. She's starting to get up there in age and has had a couple scares. She's so amazing with my kids that I don't want to think about losing her.

Re: I am lost right now
Sorry to hear man! Prayers for the pup. My daughter who is 1 was born with congenital diaphragmatic hernia and spent 6 months in the NICU at Boston children's. When she was born, she was giving 25-30% survival rate. she immediately got ventilated and within two days had major repairs done to her body. Everything was improving and one day out of no where she coded and had no pulse or heart rate for 23 minutes, they did compressions and shocked her three times and brought her back So I know how fast things can turn. The next day she had to get a stent in her heart at the young age of 2 months old the following day and after coming up from the cath lab we learned she had severe pulmonary hypertension and was giving less then 10% to survive. With the power of prayer from family, friends and strangers she started to improve. She was put on a medicine to help with her pulmonary hypertension which wasn't approved by the FDA yet and had been out for only weeks. She was a trial patient. She's home now and slowly improving and I pray your little buddy gets better!!

Wow.
Now you are in our prayers as well. I wish nothing but the best for your little girl.
Stay strong for her, man.
It is no coincidence that man's best friend cannot talk.

Re: I am lost right now
Once again THANK YOU all for the love and support. Update. Well over the last couple weeks The Dude is back stronger then ever, even being back to being a pain in my ass, never thought I would welcome that but he is spoiled. He does have a few side effects from the meds, but that's OK. On Friday we took him back to the neurologist for his check up, everything looks good right now. We met with the resident Doctor that we seen before, and also one of the founders of the hospital, a man with an impressive resume, and he said The Dude looks great. They are some of the most caring people I have ever met. When we were finishing up Dr. Galle shook my hand and even gave me a wink, like everything will be OK. He was only in the room for a minute and could tell and said "He's a Daddy's Boy". I pride myself as being a strong man, but have tears in my eyes as I write this, I am just so happy that I wanted to share with my fellow animal lovers here on the forum!

Re: I am lost right now
Awesome news! I'm so glad everything worked out and that you were able to be there for Dude during all of this. He is very lucky to have you. Any other owner and they may have just given him up because it was too hard for them. In my opinion that does make you a strong man, stronger than most animal owners. Tearing up just shows that you actually care, nothing wrong with that. Enjoy many many more years together!
