    CG Critics vis-a-vis Meguiars

One of the frequent criticisms from the CG critics is that CG has too many overlapping products.

Have any of those critics ever looked at Meguiar's product portfolio? Link

The number of overlapping Meguiar's waxes, polishes, headlight treatments, soaps and shampoos is mind-boggling.

This is not meant to criticize Meguiar's because they have some nice products. The point is that Mequiars has pursued a very similar marketing strategy as CG, yet the criticism regarding overlapping products seems heaped on CG while Meguiar's draws a free pass with respect to their product portfolio.

    Just sayin' .......

    Re: CG Critics vis-a-vis Meguiars

Perhaps Meguiars gets the "free pass" because their much more well established and have products proven to be effective by professionals and non-pros (regardless of the label or specific line)?

I have no experience with any CG products except for MF towels and MF wash, which I like. But honestly when it comes to polishes/waxes/soaps I tend to think of them the least of all the available market products. Mainly because to me I just see too much gimmick. That's my observation any way.

I agree. There is almost a different wax produced for each door and panel.

my experience was with how crappy their service was. And i mean crappy! will never buy from them direct as i have bought a few washing solutions from AG, in which is not bad all.

I use CG products in which I just limit myself on what to get and not overlap it, one common mistake I got was getting Blacklight and Jetseal 109 in which supposedly both are sealants also gloss enhancements. It kinda does contradicts itself.

Meguiar's has 19 products with "wax" in the name on their product page. To be fair, CG has many more waxes, including four over $1000.

I disagree. IMO there's good enough reason for Meguiars to have what may seem like overlapping products, but it's not really quite so simple: For example, everything in the Mirror Glaze line can't really be compared or overlap any other similar product whether it be compound or whatever because the Mirror Glaze line is made to be body shop safe for professional use.

Meanwhile their Detailers Line serves its own dedicated purpose geared to accommodate the maintanince detailer and D302 is the only polish in that line, a polish almost no 1 ever even mentions, so it sure doesn't deserve to be thought of as overkill if no one seems to know it exists...

Deep Crystal maroon line is kept around for oldtimers and cheapos.

Gold Class for the middle aged.

    Ultimate line for the millennials.

Mirror Bright for the people with old souls.

And as far as headlight treatments, they have a light duty, med duty, and heavy duty with sandpaper. I bet the people who use it with success are happy it's a available.

Does Chemical Guys even have professional body shop safe products, let alone a dedicated line to cater to the professional? I think not.

Some of CG's nubas are top shelf, Pete's 53, 50/50 to mention two. They are exceptional traditional carnauba waxes.

I don't like their polishes at all.

CG Silk Shine is still my all time favorite interior detailer and I have at least a dozen in my arsenal.

Honey Dew Snow Foam is awesome in foam guns.

I gave up on Blacklight (no longevity) Jetseal, M-seal etc LOL
