What are you doing with 40 Gb of RAM??? I can't use all of my 16 Gb even when rendering 4K video

Ya Windows 8 was ridiculous, but everyone with an ounce of self preservation kept Windows 7 who is pretty much flawless.

I hate that Windows 10 is a total spyware. I know there are ways to disable most of that data collection bull but I still hate it.

    Mine is a Dell XPS with i7 3770, 8GB RAM, and a Nvidia GTX 1060 3GB.

Its time for a SSD, I do believe. Unfortunatley, I have a bout 800GB used on my current HDD, and dont want to pony up for an SSD that large.

Also just got this awesome MonoPrice 27" 1440 glossy monitor. It is a beauty!
Compared to an old 20" HP

Look at the 1060 compared to my previous GT 640!

A SSD is the single best item you can buy for your computer. It makes everything snappy. You will feel like you did a large upgrade of your computer. For a boot drive, there is no need for a large SSD. A 128 Gb one is plenty. Just keep all your softwares and data on the mechanical drive and keep the SSD for windows only. One important thing is to move the Virtual memory file off the SSD and put it on the mechanical drive to prevent wear of the memory cells on the SSD. Trust me, at the price SSDs now go for, you would not regret this purchase!

I only run SSD's, I don't store a lot of media or anything, so can get by with a couple hundred gigs of space. For the money they are well worth it, one they are fast, two they last longer then HDD!

I am just siting here, usually at night the only light in my home office comes from the tv, my monitor, and what little comes in from my kitchen light. I like the dark. Just pick up my phone and snapped a night shot of my rig.

Re: What computer are you using?

Was bored today so I decided to replace the stock cooler on my Core i7 with a Cryorig H7 cooler.

After removing the Intel stock cooler I cleaned the CPU and cooler with Isopropyl alcool. Let me tell you, that stuff was baked on Never had to rub so much to remove thermal paste LOL

Then I start installing the bracket for the tower cooler and BAM, won't fit. The are power phases all around the CPU and the bracket would sit on about 10 of them.

Gonna run to the store and see if I can find a tower cooler with a different mounting option. Push-pin config like Intel uses for the stock cooler would be best but I don't know if any performance cooler use that.

    Sigh.

On the bright side, the clothes I ordered from Gildan just arrived so now I can go have my logo printed on them

Wanted to show a picture but I can't get the picture uploader from the forum to work, and the forum will not accept the file from my own website host because the file is too large... and I am lazy so not in the mood to re-size and re-upload

Re: What computer are you using?

Just finished doing the upgrade. Returned the cooler I had purchased and went with a Hyper 212 EVO instead.

CPU temperatures went from 91 calcius under full load to 62 celcius. The test was done running Sisoft Sandra 2017 CPU Benchmark.

Uploaded 1024 X 768 files to my web server and the forum still complain they are too large. This is pretty infuriating!¸

Ok, resized to 800 X 450... let's hope this will be small enough!

    Ok I give up.

Wow 62c is really good for a air cooled unit. It should serve you well!

Air cooling can be as good as water cooling depending on the cooler itself and the fans you use, The 212 is not to most effective in that category but it does pretty well. Since I don't overclock, it's a little overkill. If I did overclock, I could replace the fan it comes with with a higher CFM on and also add a second fan to increase the cooling ability to the extreme.

But yes, 62 Celsius on a stress test is awesome Too bad I did not have artic silver paste on hand, you probably have bee in the 50s with it
