I'm with ya there. I can see myself picking up a long-throw XFE and a PE 14, but not this since I already have a 3401. Not that it's not impressive. I just already have it.

Btw I love my Rupes 15 and Flex 3401, want a complete change and not purchase something I already own or close to it
Get the PE14. It's an incredible machine. I'm starting to use mine a lot more than my 3401.

I really hope this machine has plate options. I would like the 5.5 and 4 inch from Flex.

I don't know that size of the backing plate, but it def is different. And yes, it is fully intended to replace the 3401

    Re: Flex XCE 9-8 150

I talked with the engineers of the both the XCE and the XFE they will be planning on making a smaller (probably 5" BP) for both machines.

Just the clear it up that the 3401 is NOT being replaced by the XCE. The XCE is an addition to the line of Flex Polishers. The 3401 is still going to be offered by Flex.

There's a timeframe element. They will have both for a little while. But the plan is for a replacement.

And what about xce being easier to control than 3401? Minus heat, would user experience be similar?
