    Any application tips Collinite 845?

I just purchased a new 2013 Honda Accord Sport for my wife. I`m looking to get the paint looking good. I`ve been a Meguiars user for decades.

I had a friend that swore that Collinite 845 was the best so I decided to see so I purchased a bottle.

For the people that use it is there any tips on applying it that I should know. I will apply with a Porter Cable 7424x with soft waxing pad.

I`m thinking about using Megs NXT 2.0 for a sealer with the Col 845 on top ? Jim

Thin, thin, thin....you won't be disappointed with the look or the durability.

With a machine you should have no problem applying it thin. Thin is the way to go. I apply it with an applicator pad so for the whole hood I put one little bigger than a pea size for each corner. Its so thin that I was afraid I didn't use enough. But I made sure the whole hood was oily (very hard to see) use the light reflection. I top it over BFWD sealant.

845 goes very very thin. so shake very well before use. after primed the pad, only add minimal amount on the pad, then it can go a long way. I saw a good tip here that whenever you are not sure if you have enough amount on the pad, just press the pad onto glass. if you still can see a good smear, you still can keep using the pad (without adding more 845).

845 required some time to dry. if you figured it's difficult to wipe off, just spray some QD on it. (I never had problem wiping it off, but see some others complaining about that). 845 is super durable tho. Considering you only use a tiny amount each application, one bottle is enough for a long long time

I m not sure if its a good idea to combine NXT2.0 and 845. NXT2.0 gets you some crazy gloss (and the craziest beading I've ever seen), but it lasts way tooooooo short. Even tho 845 lasts a while, I am afraid Nxt will largely reduce the general durability of this comibination.

845 can be thick/clumpy when it is cool. I usually sit the whole bottle in a pot of warm water before I try to use it. Once it warms up, shake the bottle really well. I have found the it works best when it is almost like water. As mentioned above, apply it really thin.

Also, make sure you dont put NXT2.0 on top of ANYTHING. It has minor abrasions in it. not quite enough to correct deficiency but enough to get rid of most sealant/wax underneath it.

One last thing about 845, when you finish it, make sure you tightly close the lid (or any container you use). I found out the solvent in 845 evaporates gradually. I bought few bottles of 845 last year. then for other reasons I was out of detailing business for a while. When I came back I found out all those 845s are totally dried (I didnt close the containers very tight), and no longer usable

I would ditch the nxt 2.0 for the detail, clean with a dedicated prewax cleaner or finishing polish... then 1 to 2 coats of 845.
