Sonax Cut & Finish and Sonax Perfect Finish at Autogeek.net

Sonax Cut & Finish and Sonax Perfect Finish at Autogeek.net

While we were at SEMA I had the opportunity to spend some time at the Sonax booth where they had a pretty impressive demonstration of their Cut & Finish and Sonax Perfect Finish products. In fact they gave us a few samples to test out so today I did a little buffing with them using the Makita Rotary Buffer on one of our black hoods we use in our classes.

The products I have are in German but I remember the Sonax Rep telling me these are rotary buffer only products. As we get in the English language versions I'll verify.

I don't remember what I was using last on this hood but I knew it had swirls in one of the test sections and since I'm pretty sure they're very shallow so I chose a LC Flat White Polishing Pad for the Cut & Finish and a LC Flat Blue Finishing Pad for the Perfect Finish.

(The painter's tape is being used to let the camera focus on the surface)

    After

The first thing I noticed was they both have a long buffing cycle and smooth buffing action with this set-up. Wipe-off was easy and results looked to be very good.

Where would these rate aggressiveness-wise as compared to M105/M205 or Optimum Hyper Compound/Hyper Polish?

Cut and finish = cut: 5/6 and gloss: 5/6

Perfect finish = cut: 4/6 and gloss: 6/6

Mike, porta how do you rate Sonax Perfect finish against similar products, like Menzerna PO203?

Toni, I have never used the new sonax products since they are very expensive and not very common in Sweden. Menzerna is still my no 1 choice.

Considering I've just found out that over here Perfect Finish is twice the price of Menzerna, I'll follow your lead and stick with Menz for now

I already have Megs 105&205 to play with for spring :P

Hate to dig up a old thread but does AG plan on carrying the Cut and Finish or the Perfect Finish ? If they are listed in the store I couldn't find them.

At the time I was given these to test the plan was we were going to carry them, not sure what happened but I'll look into it.

    Thanks Paul...

Sonax has a US office in Indianapolis and a inquiry on Perfect Finish resulted in the following reply:

The Sonax Perfect Finish will not be available in the US due to VOC regulations with the original formula. Sonax Germany has responded to the demand for the Perfect Finish and developed a new formula for the US market that is VOC compliant. It will be available sometime in September and it will be called SONAX Profiline Nano Polish (3/6).

There are some individuals importing this product for personal use.
