    Re: Griots 3-1 Cermaic wax

Does it behave like a traditional coating when it gets wet, i.e. lots of really tight water beads that just perch on the surface and then roll off?

Hmmm. Interesting. Compared to something like CQuartz UK or CanCoat, that looks more sealant like.

The beading is pretty tight. Similar to Turtle Wax Seal N Shine. The pics above are several hours after I completed it. It is technically supposed to cure for 12 hours. I'll take more pics next rain.

Definitely not a coating. More like a topper or stand a lone sealant.... wouldn’t compare to Cquk or Cancoat. More comparable to Reload or Cure..... just a way better product.

Thanks. My question was a little misleading. I wasn't expecting the durability of a coating.

The question was simply about the water behavior and how well it beads/sheets/self cleans. When using Elixr or Cure, I found the water behavior is identical to the coating (CQ UK or CanCoat) under it. Nice tight, tall beads which easily roll or blow off. Wasn't sure if the Griots would act like Elixr or Cure. From the pictures, it reminds me more of Meguiars Ultimate Quik Wax than Cure or Elixr.

I truthfully haven't looked into hybrid ceramic sprays too much, but does this bond with ceramic coatings and/or help with the water spot etching that's commonly an issue with coatings?

    Re: Griots 3-1 Cermaic wax

Some do use the ceramic spray hybrids on top of existing coatings for added durability, but products like this are ideally meant to be the first base layer. They offer much better durability than previous waxes, but not on the level of a true coating.

The benefits consist of ease of use, decent durability, price and used as a drying aid.

You can use it on glass and plastics too. I've found 303 and similar type products for the exterior are inferior to these ceramic hybrid spray waxes on plastic trim. Works great on windshields too.

Ah, got it! I guess I'm too acclimated to the coating + maintenance sealant top coat even though I still sealant + wax my girlfriend's car. LSP has had so many new additions.

Turtle Wax Seal N Shine and GG 3 in 1 contain caranuba, some type of polmyers and some Si02. Both are considered sealants to some degree. They are not the same as a true ceramic coating though.
