    Re: Griots New G9 Polisher

But why do they even bother with the 6 inch backing plate?
    Driving accessory sales I guess.

    Darn nice price.

What should I take away from this having a 9mm throw instead of a typical 15mm polisher?

I think this is the new product they were going to reveal 9/9/19. Not very stealthy, it went on their “New Arrivals” page at least on Friday.

I think this is an evolution of the 8mm GG6, not a substitute for a long throw. My impression is that this is a ground up redesign focused on ergonomics and user experience. Higher power motor, better cooling, 1lb lighter, and I believe smoother and quieter. I wonder if the 9mm throw pays off in vibration reduction?

While a long throw would be great, I’m highly considering selling my GG6 and getting this in its place. I’ve got 2 cars in need of multi-steps, and while I don’t have the dough for a 15mm, I think this could be worth the investment for sheer comfort reasons.

Looking forward to their official rollout to hear all the talking points.

Looks pretty cool. Would be nice if it could use 3.5” pads. As it is this is a great machine for the enthusiast that only plans on having a single polisher. I agree that the standard backing plate should have been the 5”.
