    Re: Griots New G9 Polisher

This might be the "crème de la crème" for a newbie looking for a first polishing tool! Purty!

Plus it's got 1.21 Gigawatts of power! This sucker is totally "Nuclear!" LOL

Definitely has a Flux Capacitor inside! :-)

not knocking Griots or this machine. But if you don't need the name, you can get the 15mm from the Chinese company that makes the Boss G15 for the same price as this. This is a nice looking unit and great for people who want the name and the warranty that Griots provides.

    Re: Griots New G9 Polisher

This machine looks like it's built along the same lines as the Boss machines. Might possibly have the same high quality bearings throughout.

I'm no D/A expert, but with a more powerful Motor, and still being a fairly short throw, it might be a lot less prone to stalling? The need of having to buy a smaller 5" Backing Plate is no biggie IMO. Some might even have a spare Plate laying around, or swap one from another machine in their arsenals.

Might be good for a person who already has a GG6, or PC7424XP, but doesn't want to go that far up in price to the Boss, Rupes, or Flex, but still get some better performance from the other two machines I just mentioned.

Then convert those machines to 4" or 3" Pad use for tighter areas.

If I didn't already have a Boss 15, I'd likely be considering this machine to have.

And like we all know, one can expect the superb warrantee and service that the Griots name offers.

Hardly. Party pooper would be bashing the tool or potential buyers because it’s not what you want. You’re good about not being that.

Personally, as a hobbyist that currently has a GG6, I’ll be picking up one of these. Selling my 3rd gen to a coworker, I’ll have $40 out of pocket to upgrade. As mentioned above, I’ve got 2 cars due for multi-steps, but no budget for long throw (and sorry, actually no interest in forced rotation for myself). For $40 I think the 1 pound weight reduction will be worth it, not to mention the ergonomic touches.

I’m assuming the noise level and vibration levels are reduced over the GG6, looking forward to hearing from folks as they get out in the wild.

I'm assuming the G9 will be used for future GG6 warranty replacements (when all existing GG6 inventory runs out)?

On Griots new product page they show a video on what's inside concerning hardware and bearings and talk about power.

    Just to chime in....

I have an IDA Conference Call about to start, after that I'll share my review for this new tool.

I recently used it on an old 2-door Ford and an old 2-door Chevy.
