I like the finish you get from Polish Angel products. For base protection 6-12 months as a last step or the only step if not much defects. PA Esclate Lotion as a paint cleaner that depends the color and fine abrasives to get the light defects corrected and was made for to be followed by PA Master Sealant. Then you have the Rapidwaxx as a topper or if you have a metallic paint High Gloss. You also have the color coded toppers from PA that makes the color of the paint you have to pop. Or the toppers made for their coatings Cosmic Spritz and Viking Spritz. The concentration of them is extreme and a little goes a very long way.

I like that Mothers CMX has both SiO2 and TiO2 in it. Would be interesting to know the concentration of them. TiO2 often takes out the metallic flakes to pop and also takes about 24 hours before it fully cures looks wise.

Re: Mother's CMX CERAMIC SPRAY COATING

Just tried the overcoat v1 (thanks budget). The application and removal a bit grabby (better on v2?). After applying let cure for a day and spritz some water on it and at first thought was no difference in beads to hydrosilex. Then I sprayed again in same place and the beads just fell off the car! No rain yet but can tell actual self cleaning is going to be fun to watch....

Would I use something like HD Speed on my car first before applying this or just clay my car and apply this immediately after?

You can do either, but best case would be to clay and then polish/prep the paint to remove grime and oil. A clean surface will allow for best results.

CMX is a coating as per Forrest from Mothers. That said, coatings do not imply "permanent" which some tend to think that way.

Is there any standard industry what a ceramic coating is?

Does it have to have a certain longevity or chemical/chemicals?

Honestly I have not read or heard anything that says it's a ceramic coating or not. Or is it just so if a brand claims their product is a ceramic coating then it is so?

Same problem we have with waxes and sealants. No clear definitions, only a vague notion kinda-sorta agreeded upon by the community.

For a while, the coatings were pretty easily defined as the products which came in tiny bottles, had a high SiO2 content (or similar) and lasted several years. Now days, you have products with similar chemical make up, come in a spray form to make them easier to apply, and can last anywere from a few weeks like CMX to six months like CanCoat. No idea what to call them.
