McKee's 37 Coating Prep Auto Wash

Not sure where I see it's use other than when taking a car that's been waxed and not in need of any further correction but the detailer wants to strip and re-do the vehicle again.

As someone who does mostly all coatings I don't see a need for this (correct me if I'm wrong) as I'm going to fully strip the car and prep it via polish before the coating anyway.

am I missing something? I guess I could use this in place of the soap I currently use as a lube when Nano Sponging the vehicles simply because it couldn't hurt to use it. Not sure yet.

If I’m not mistaken this soap is safe to use on coated cars and will not strip it. So maybe it could be used like twice a year to do a deep clean on the coating? I’m thinking this followed by Iron-X will get the coating back in great shape. Hopefully Nick can confirm this will indeed not affect the coating.

From a chemical standpoint, Coating Prep Auto Wash is 3 to 4 times as strong as a normal auto wash. This was made possible thanks to a very advanced alkaline detergent that will help remove remaining traces of previously applied waxes and sealants.

Yes, very effective with either wash method.

I wonder how much it would strip off any trim sealants?

Not when used as directed Paul.

They are very different products.

Nick underlined “remaining traces”, so I’m guessing it’s not going to strip any strong LSP that is fairly fresh (just my interpretation).

Directions for use:
For use with foam guns:Mix 2 ounces of McKee's 37 Coating Prep Auto Wash with 6-8 ounces of water and shake well.

For use in buckets:Mix 2-3 ounces of McKee's 37 Coating Prep Auto Wash for every 3 gallons of water. Activate with a strong jet of water.

I think Glug-Glug in the Nick scale = 2-3 oz into the bucket (3gal) or foam gun container.
