I didn't find it offensive in any way either. In fact, a good many posts moved to the "Abyss" got guys laughing and buoyed the spirits of the OP's to participate a little more.

And this was on a forum not NEARLY as friendly as AGO.

    Anyway, just my 2 pennies........

    Thanks for sharing...

    My guess would be "yes".

Tinting a clear coat IS USED to alter the final visible appearance of a paint job. That's a fact.

    Now the question is why?

Why would someone want to spray a blue tinted clear over a yellow school bus? If a person wants a green school bus simply spray it green.

I also think it would be difficult to get a uniform color using a tinted clear to change the actual color. So as mike stated, why not just paint it green?

I applied a blue pearl over the base Honda white when I repainted my old '91 CRX and it gave the overall paint an almost yellow hue to it but all edges/curves looked blueish in the sun.

Assuming one had an old yellow school bus and they wished it was green, I must admit there is validity to this question.

Re: BLUE TINTED CLEAR COAT ON YELLOW SCHOOL BUS Question

I had my run in on tinted clear coat as well. I had a test hood off of a new model Buick that i used to test different compounds and pad variations. After i had used the rupes UHS compound and pad, i noticed a slight hint of red on my pad. Wasn't very noticeable, but i was able to catch it when the light hit the pad. only did 3-4 passes so I knew that there was no way i could of went through the clear coat. I did a little research and found out that Buick model cars in fact do have a tinted clear coat sprayed on them. This was a very good learning experience. Gotta love test panels!
