    New to the Detailing Game

    Hi everyone my name is Jose I'm from New Jersey. I drive a 2004 Lexus IS300. Just got it painted and don't want anyone touch my baby so i found this awesome forum and hope to learn somethings
    from you guys. Where do i begin ?

    Your car looks great in such a horrible location. Reminds Me of Beauty and the Beast. I try to avoid crowded urban areas as much as possible. I could not help but wonder would your car be the next graffiti victim in that alley.

    Fresh paint needs minimum 30 days curing time before anything is applied to the paint.

    I would like to gather a bag of stuff to detail and wash my car. Towels brushes etc . There so much stuff out there it's overwhelming. We're does one start. I live in the east coast winter is coming what can I do to protect my new paint job I got my car painted in September. I have tan leather interior how do I keep it looking new?

    The majority of damage done to paint and clearcoat is done in the washing process.
    Start by learning how to properly wash a vehicle.

    This includes:
    - Body/Paint/Clearcoat.
    - Auto Glass / Inside and out.
    - Plastic Trim / Vinyl Trim / Rubber.
    - Tires / Wheel Wells.
    - Wheels / Rims / Hub-Caps / Wheel Covers.
    - Engine Compartment.
    - Trunk.
    - Chrome / Aluminum / Steel / Misc Metal.
    - Canvas.

    Investigate various Wash Methods.
    - Two Bucket Method with Grit Guard.
    - Garry Dean Method.
    - Rinseless Wash
    - Waterless Wash.
    - Misc Shop Wash methods.
    - Properly drying the vehicle.

    Educate yourself on using Clean Water.
    - Distilled Water.
    - Filtered Water.
    - Ionized Water.
    - Etc.........

    Educate yourself on Proper Towels.
    - Pile.
    - Denier
    - Weave.
    - Nap
    - Thread.
    - Fiber PSI Count.
    - Absorbancy.
    - Drape.
    - Plush.
    - Softness.
    - Edge Binding.
    - Fiber Ends.
    - Color and Fiber hardness.

    Decontaminating a vehicle.
    This is just as important as washing and where the actual cleaning of the vehicle takes place.
    - Environmental contaminates.
    - Pollution contaminates.
    - Natural contaminates.
    - Water Spots and mineral deposits.
    - Road Grime.
    - Clay Bar.
    - Degreasers.
    - APC's (All Purpose Cleaners).
    - Contaminate specific cleaners.
    - Steamer's.
    - Pressure Washers and appropriate Nozzle Selection.
    - Plastic Razor Blades.
    - Metal Razor Blades (glass application).
    - Magic Eraser.
    - Etc...........

    Interior:
    - Steamer.
    - Extractor.
    - Wet&Dry Vac.
    - Scrub Brushes.
    - Soft Brushes.
    - Industrial Cotton Swabs.
    - Etc............
