    Newbie from SLC, Utah

Hey guys, newbie from SLC here. Found this place from a guy who lives a few streets down that detailed one of my cars. His name is Anthony, and runs OCDetails. I had him detail my Subaru so I could pick his brains as much as I could, and he introduced me to a whole new world of things and products I had no idea existed. Can't thank him enough for that!

I started caring for my cars appearance when I got my second MR2 turbo. It had really oxidized paint and one of my buddies briefly showed me how to remove the oxidation. I did some experimentation on this car and made quite a few mistakes, but learned a lot in the process.

Here is what it looked like when I first got it.

And this is one of the pics I took during my first attempt at wet sanding(made a lot of mistakes here...)

This was after my first attempt. I wet sanded it, hit it with Meguires swirl remover, then Meguires cleaner wax.

After that I started experimenting with stuff that was still just off the shelf at my local parts houses because I wasn't aware that anything else existed at the time. I hit it with cleaner wax again cause the oxidation kept coming back, then used the NXT Tech Wax 2.0 on it after.(All of this was done by hand, I didn't own any form of buffer at the time)

And this was it right before I sold it. I had gotten some new wheels and changed up the suspension a bit by this point.

It looked a LOT better, and from that point I fell in love with making any car I had look better than when I got it. I'm still learning new stuff every time I go and tinker with my car, and enjoy(almost) every minute of it!

I now have a 95 Honda Del Slow that I use as an experiment car. Its my beater and I don't expect it to look perfect all of the time.

And a 2008 STI, which I'm a bit more hesitant to try things on lol

I've already found some useful information, and I'm sure I'm going to find a whole lot more. Glad to find such an awesome site for this kind of stuff!
