    Hello From Merrick, New York

    Hey All,

My name is Jason joined the forum to find out more information regarding detailing my car. I drive a 2009 Subaru Legacy 2.5i and just enjoy keeping it nice and clean. I'm located in Merrick, New York which is on Long Island.

Edit: I do most of my waxing by hand using some good ol' elbow grease and time. Do you guys recommend using something powered as opposed to hand waxing? or is it more of a preference thing?

    Welcome to AGO!!

Machine application makes it easier to get an even thin layer. It is mostly a preference thing, though.

Welcome to Autogeek Online Jason! I prefer machine application of sealants as it is easier to apply a thin coat as mentioned above. For paste wax application I prefer hand, but that is just my way of doing it.

    I'm a newbie myself...so Welcome to AutoGeek!
You will definitely find what you're looking for here and more...the knowledge here will get your head spinning like a Flex 3401 on Steroids.

Keep in mind, I had no idea what a Flex was other than a Ford SUV, but watch some of the videos on how to do things in the Detailer's Library section it's a good place to start. Here's How To
    Have Fun!

Welcome from Long Island as well.

You'll learn a lot here on this forum about techniques and excellent products to use.

If your looking to apply wax by machine I personally would go with a Griots Garage 6" polisher or a Porter Cable 7424Xp. Like mjlinane said though its all about preference. I personally like to apply wax by hand but machine is nice too.

Welcome to AGO! I am also in Merrick.

The PC 7424 XP, which I got about a year ago, is a solid machine. I used it for applying sealant, but not wax yet. Works great!

    To Autogeek Online Jason!

I apply about 95% of all my waxes and sealants with my Porter Cable 7424, even most of my tub waxes...

Welcome to AG..... Bellmore, Long Island here.... we are neighbors for sure. I have a Flex 3401 but do tend to wax by hand. I am going to try 845 this year with the Flex and see how that goes. I have stuff if you want a sample or wish to trade.
