I covered Northern Idaho when I worked for Meguiar's as Trainer. I covered Oregon, Washington and Northern Idaho. Beautiful country and away from the hectic big city life.
Nothing wrong with practicing on old tractors...

Re: Help detailing neglected BMW Z4? New guy starting from scratch
Took a stab at the 1st of the neglected rigs. I was really surprised at the amount of stuff that came off that car with a few small changes to how I washed. Even the truck looks like it was detailed, per my wife, although it like the rest, didn't wax a trace of protection left.
Rav 4 is the daily driver, just regular quick washes every now and them since we got it, 2014 with 129K miles. 1st attempt at paint correction and has a coat of protection on the paint. Still lots to do but its a start and looking at the interior now.
Interested to see how it looks and cleans up after a week or so

Looks good!
I think one of the biggest things you'll appreciate is how much easier they are to clean up when you have a good LSP on there. So much less time/effort to get them clean during a wash.
