New guy from Minnesota
Hey guys,
I've tried making a thread 3 times now and it never posts. Hopefully this time it will work. Anyway, I've been a car enthusiast for 20+ years. But my detailing could use some help.
I currently own 2 mustangs. A 90 ssp coupe and a 03 cobra. I've waxed cars before, but never done a paint correction. I actually bought a DA porter cable about 2 years ago, but haven't got myself to use it. The products I will be using are Wolfgang. I actually have Wolfgang deep gloss paint sealant ordered. I may try that on the 03 cobra first and see how it turns out.
I also purchased the book "The complete guide to a show car shine" by Mike Philips.
I'm sure I'll have tons of questions, and appreciate any help along the way! I'll try to post some pictures of my cars shortly.
Brady

Welcome to AGO Brady!
The PC is a very capable machine, and built like a little tank. It is also a very SAFE machine to use on your paint. It also likes to use 5.5" pads.
What Wolfgang products do you currently have?
It is no coincidence that man's best friend cannot talk.

I am not an expert...you have to prepare the paint on your cars before you use a sealant....my car is newer so I use clay to prepare the paint....lots of luck

I currently have total swirl remover and finishing glaze. I do have 5.5" pads. I have the smart pads, orange foam light cutting pad, and white foam polishing pad.

Yes sir, I'd clay bar it first, then lay down the sealant. Thanks!

Good products. You will need to first:
Wash
Decon (clay and/or Iron remover)
Correct with your PC and WGTS.
And, you will need many more pads. 6 of each at least.
Pads get full (saturated) with product and spent (removed) paint, and you will have a way better experience if you change them after ever panel or two.

Thank you! I better buy more, I only have 2 of each! The paint on my cobra is decent. I do see some light scratches while under some light. I've thought about washing/clay/ then WGTS. I know it won't remove the light scratches.
If my car is just dusty, could I get by with No-rinse waterless wash spray and microfiber towels?

I would do a full-on wash before polishing. You would be surprised how much more road grime a regular wash removes. The less you get off in the wash, the more you see on your pads......

Makes sense. My cars actually only see water maybe 1-2 times a summer. I hate washing them with water and soap. Takes forever to properly dry, lol.
