Thin paint Help!

Hi All. Any advise on polishing paint that is super thin on the hood. bought new truck last year 2017 chevy colorado . was planning on trying a coating. so i wanted to polish it before putting on coating. paint is good all over from 98ums to 115. but the hood is 84 to 71ums. I've read on here it's not to safe to polish under 80. any suggestions greatly appreciated. only light scratches from washing i try to be careful when washing.Learned a lot on here how to maintain a car or truck As far as i know first polish on truck don't know why hood so thin.

Just use a mild polish, I’ve had new Asian cars in here with very thin paint. You’re not taking that much off with polishing.
