Greetings from PA, Land of Subarus

Long time lurker here. Figured I should make my obligatory intro post so I can trot over to the main forum and ask some questions.

I have a white 2001 Legacy Outback with all its original paint, unless you don’t want to count the touch up paint. We’ve owned it since new, but I only got into the idea of waxing it a few years ago.

In the past I have used Nu Finish, but I don’t like how it messes up the trim, and this car has lots of trim. This year I am trying something different and using Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Lotion and Finish Kare Hi-Temp wax. I’m also using a clay bar, but skipping the polish step. I just like it looking clean.

Here’s a photo of the half done hood. Yes, I actually stopped with it looking like that. It was getting late. With luck I’ll be done before June.

    Thanks for reading.

Are you using a machine for the Pinnacle pre-wax? Even with no abrasives, that stuff should make your car a shade or two brighter white

No machine. Just a microfiber foam pad and elbow grease. I think it is taking off a lot of dirt, too. Tonight I’m going to try using it without claying first. Maybe I don’t need to spend so much time with the clay bar. It’s really tiring, especially with the heat lately.

It’s incredibly easier with a DA, but you probably already knew that. Elbow grease can be a grueling tactic.

Indeed. Perhaps the exercise is good for me though. I haven’t hit a gym in years.

Can’t argue with that! I can’t deny that detailing has been my best form of exercise for the last 6 months.

Welcome to AGO! I would look into polishing as it is an easy process once you learn the technique. But again, welcome to AGO

East. About an hour north of Philly.
