Re: 1st post here.
I was a lurker for months, once you join AGO you'll start to pick up even more info. I think it has something to do with interacting with all the other OCD car people. I have learned more on AGO/Autopia than 10 years of detailing cars in 90's-2000's pre forum days.
Welcome to AGO!

All by HAND, I have no buffer. went over the car 2 times with Meguiar's #7, Then 1 coat of Duragloss 111, Final Coat of Collinite Liquid Insulator Wax #845. As for washing I just use the blue Dawn dish soap and hot water to strip everything before I start. Been 2 years since I did the 3 step. Will be doing it again this spring.
This when I first bought the car. No waxes yet.

This time I tried something different. Mixed Duragloss 111 and Collinite #845 50/50.

This spring I'll do a Dawn wash then Meguiar's #7 and Duragloss #601 and #605 and see how that works.
Oh I have found when doing by hand, Foam applicators work the best. Getting harder to find tho, So I buy the cheap microfiber ones and cut the open to get the foam.
I need to start taking the pictures with the same camera and lens. Noticed they all look different.

I know what you mean about the applicators. Used to see them everywhere, now can't find any local. Are you going to continue by hand or considering a DA?

DA is on my wish list. Never used on either. Been looking at a Chicago Electric 6 in. 5.7 Amp Heavy Duty Dual Action Variable Speed Polisher at my local store. Only work part time and that is $$ I don't have to spend on one. Guess I'll have to stay with lots of elbow grease.
I can remember in the old days in the 70's we didn't even use any pads. Put the wax on by our hands. Messy Messy Messy.

Just ordered #601 and #105 here. Been using a 3 step process that worked out great. But as I get older it gets harder to do.
My normal routine is using Meguiar's #7, DuraGloss 111, Then a top coat of Collinite Liquid Insulator Wax #845. Going to try the #105 instead of the #111.

I'm a Firm believer in Meguiar's #7 as the first coat. Really deepens the color on my car.

Welcome Tim! Those are great pics considering you did that work by hand.

Re: 1st post here.
I stopped using #7 on clearcoated cars a long time ago. I would suggest trying your Duragloss regimen on one panel and see if that darkens your paint to your satisfaction without the #7.

Yeah, and they got really expensive! Like the Meg's applicators that used to be ubiquitous now list for $5.49 for a 2-pack. Didn't that used to be $1.99?
