Sanding Techniques During Touch Up Paint Application

Looking for some advice regarding sanding techniques during touch up paint application. Specifically, I’m working on a few small stone chips in the hood of my Audi 2018 RS5 (color Nardo Grey). So, far I’m finding it difficult to get the paint to “adhere” to the primer layer - even after letting is dry for a week+ before polishing. I’m thinking about gradually layering the OEM paint, and sanding between each layer to improve the probability of it sticking. Any advice in terms of techniques, or sand paper grit count, etc.?

I'm not sure why you posted this in the sub-forum you did, but what are you doing to clean the chip before applying the paint?

I’m new to the forum - so apologize if I added this in the wrong place! To clean the chip, I use the cleaning formula provided in the Langka Chip Repair Kit. I use that formula, then rinse the spot with water and let dry for 12 hours. (This is the prep I have been following). FYI, the “blob remover” solution with the Langka kit did not work well for me - paint comes right off.

That's odd. I just did some spots this weekend with Dr. ColorChip and that sticks really well. I cleaned the chips with alcohol before applying. It was actually pretty darn hard to remove the paint outside the chip with their Seal-Act solution which is probably like your blob remover. Came out great, just had to be patient and keep wiping until it leveled out. Maybe I should have waited less than 15/20 minutes before doing it.

Your problem is that you are laying down too thick of a coat. Do the first very thin and let dry for 24 hours and then the 2nd depending how deep the chip is you may need 3-4 coats. I've had the same problem with Langka.
