    Boot Camp Corvette

    Boot Camp Corvette

My co-worker Jeff and I went and picked up the Corvette for Saturday's class for the car washing and Iron-X portion of the class, also Eco-friendly engine detailing.

    Here's a few pictures...

    Rick's Corvette

Engine is only mildly dirty, perfect for the eco-friendly session on engine detailing.

Some kine of wear-pattern or staining on the sunroof plus abrasion scratches...

Some kind of contaminants all over the paint, some have a rush color to them, should be perfect for the Iron-X demonstration.

Some kind of stain spots all over the paint...

    And of course swirls...

At this time we're only using this Corvette for washing, decontamination and engine detailing. While trained eyes can see swirls in white paint I tend to choose medium to dark colored cars for any paint polishing sessions as it's a lot easier for "all" the students to see the before and after difference.

I'll keep the Vette into the next week and finish the paint for the owner in the evening after work.

I talked to the wife a few weeks ago about attending this weekend's class but she gave me "that" look, lol. I am interested in it though and might save a little coin and sign up later this year. I live so close it's kinda silly not to. Especially when a rather large gift card is part of the deal.

Mike, the lexan roof option for the Vette are coated with a product to reduce sun damage. It looks like the coating is giving out like clearcoat failure based upon the one pic.

That's what it looks like, the class is not about restoring Lexan of any type as it's a very hard material to work with.

Yeah, Lexan is no joke to work with... been there tried that! Even block sanding gouges out is near impossible.

Not me (that's the top off my uncle's C5) but yep, that's what happens when you go down the road without making sure the roof is latched down

Ended up just having the lexan panel replaced since it was taking forever to cut through those gouges.

    Re: Boot Camp Corvette

I'm interested in how to fix a rather small blemish in the Lexan. Actually, I'm not sure but I believe my unpainted top would need to be refinished. A product (which I no longer use) ate the outer coating off in a small area.
