Hello ive got a few questions. Im typing from my phone so sorry for any issues. Im starting slow cos im a rookie. Im doin fam and friends cars right now.

Im startiing out with basic wash wax and vac. And as I learn im gonna expand. Im using the optimum rinsless wash. Is that a good way do start? Also im thinking bout when im ready to start the mobile ddetailing biz starting out in parking lots to get my name out Is the a good way to start?

When I first started (about 3 months ago) I just made sure to under-promise, and over-deliver. That way client's expectations are exceeded and they'll tell their friends

    Read this,

Id' recommend getting both my how-to book and my buddy Renny Doyle's how-to book and read both a couple of times and always ask questions on the forum, that's how you learn and grow.

    Re: questions about detailing

An ONR wash usually takes me about 30 minutes, a little more on larger vehicles.

I suggest adding Optimum Car Wax or Opti-Seal for a fast an easy upgrade to your ONR washing.

Parking lots are ok if you can get permission to do it in an automotive related business. Send some information/talk to some local auto repair shops. They might be open to it since it will create curb appeal and excitement to their business.

    Re: questions about detailing

ONR wash, clay, followed by a cleaner wax, usually takes me around 3 hours, give or take depending on the size of the vehicle, condition etc.

Add an hour or two if the interior is involved.

Check your local council to make sure you're allowed to do such business first

EDIT: Also, charge what you think you're worth. I generally go about $150 for a basic but complete detail. Wash and wax about $75. I'm in Australia though, everything's a bit pricier here

Lowest overhead is something to look for... for most people starting out, it's the overhead that will hurt you the most for a brick and mortar store. Having a brick and mortar store tends to force you to become a production shop.

Read Renny's book, ask lots of questions on the forum, read lots of info on the forum and start out mobile till you're sure this is right for you before plunking down the money for a shop.
