Re: Paperwork client to sign off-before & after
Couple this with "Mike's Vehicle Inspection Form" and you should have all your bases covered.
In other words...I like this!

Have you ever had a customer scared away by putting a waiver in front of them?

This is a very good idea. Invest in a high megapixel camera (for blowing up images) and do a once around. A friend of mine had a Super Snake 1000 in that had a cracked fibreglass hood. Only noticed it in the middle of the job. Went back to the pics and saw it was already cracked. Saved a lot of money!
Good form too! An honest customer will have no problem signing that. If someone does, you know that they are trouble.

The customer signs (almost) the same agreement when they take their vehicle in 'for service'. "Mechanics Lien."
Even thought I DO NOT work as a detailer, I DO work for friends and family (for beer) and I DO have them sign off a generalized mechanics lien before I ever start. I'm strictly playing CYA.

Hmmm.
I understand your rationale for this, but I would never sign that based on #1 and #8. I'm not sure you would prevail in court if it could be proven that you damaged the vehicle due to negligence or if you or one of your employees was responsible for theft of personal property.

This is more of a "cause & effect" kind of thing. If they get offended & refuse to sign it, that is a red flag for me. Iv'e had a least 30-40 customers read through the whole thing & say this is a very well thought up & a good "fall-back" if something ever happens. IF IT IS TRULY my fault on something I will gladly pay for the damages because i'm the way my dad raised me. A handshake is my word. There are a LOT of shady people in this world sadly.
Edit: Also I'm a sole business, just me & an assistant.
