Foot Wear
Okay, so this is going to sound goofy.
Yesterday while loading up my mobile trailer, I managed to get the thing on my toe, almost cutting the stupid thing off. Needless to say, stitches.
This isn't the first time I've hurt my toes, and it had me rethinking my foot wear approach. I'm almost always wearing running shoes, they are light, easy to get on an off, dry quickly if they get wet, and since I exercise a lot, I always have a good supply of them after they get too many miles on them but look good still.
I considered switching to some sort of boot, but I'm concerned about 2 things (1) that wearing boots with shorts will make me look like a mailman, and 2) they are too heavy and will get tiresome after doing a full day of detailing.
Most of the stuff I do isn't dangerous to the feet, but loading/unloading the mobile trailer could be.
Has anyone found a good solution that might provide a little more protection than running shoes, but not weigh 100lbs?
Thanks!
KD
(feeling like a bit of a chick. ;->)

The only thing I can think of is steel toe shoes.

I'm looking at some different low-rise "ST boots" that won't be as heavy as traditional ones.

I know they make tenni shoes that are steel toe.

I'm leaning towards these:
Men's Skechers Mariner Brown FamousFootwear.com
Not ST, but more protection than tennis shoes, and low cut, so not as dorky, and supposedly light weight. Maybe I'll order them and report back here! ;->

You know a good shoe that has been around for a long time that has excellent toe protection. The Adidas Super Star. Big rolled rubber deal over the toe. They deal pretty well for not getting wet easily and good protection. And they won't look goofy lol.

I would look into Red Wing boots. They offer a wide variety of styles and some come with an aluminiun toe to lighten it up a bit.

Re: Foot Wear
Why not just have a pair of boots on your trailer for loading and unloading your gear and still use sneakers for the detail?

That's actually a good idea. I ordered the Skechers, so we'll see how those work out. I can use them for other stuff around the shop/house anyway.
I have to get new running shoes now, the accident yesterday put a hole in mine! ;->
