What canopy size to buy?
I watched this video today: YouTube
And now I want to buy a canopy. I had no idea they were so easy to setup and put away. I was thinking it was more like a winter carport and you needed to assemble poles and frame and all that.. This is so easy it's crazy not to use one!
I went to Walmart today to get the one he is talking about in the video and of course, they did not have any available except the 10' X 10' one. Which is the smallest size available (I think).
So my questions are: What is the smallest size canopy that works well for car detailing? And what would be the ideal size?
I have seen one that is 16' X 16' and some that were 9' X 18' and all sort of sizes. Really unsure what to get. 12X12 seemed nice, But I really have no reference.

Re: What canopy size to buy?
PM UncleDavy.
We had a great conversation on the one he bought. He uses it for his full-sized truck, and he said it's not a big hassle to put up by himself. I think his is 10x15, but don't quote me on that........
It is no coincidence that man's best friend cannot talk.

I would say a 12x16 for larger vehicles so you could still have some shade but I'm not mobile so maybe that big isn't practical.
btw you double posted this
“I have trouble with names and faces, but I never forget a car.”

The canopy you can buy is the one YOU can operate alone safely and secure from wind gusts. That would be my only advise.

I have the 10 x 15 and I can easily set it up myself. It covers the wife's Buick and it almost covers my truck. It is great to work in the shade. The frame easily folds up into a carrying case that resembles a travel golf bag with wheels. Check out Caravan Canopy Titanshade 10 x 15 on Amazon.

Re: What canopy size to buy?
Thanks guys. So 10X15 seems pretty big if it can fit a pickup undeneath and still have room to work Compared to the 12X12 in the video, would you say it's about the same amount of time to setup and store away?
I will check if I can get one that size.

Well there are plenty of other factors:
- Enough room to work underneath
- Not so big that it will not fit into most driveways
- Sturdy enough to be set up and stored away 3 to 5 times a week
- Not so heavy that I will break my back trying to move it around
etc...

It does the trick if your customer has no garage and there's no other choice. Quick to install, helps when you're 2 to do it
.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for the pictures, I see it is just a tag too small to cover the whole car. So 12 X 12 is probably perfect for a car. I doubled posted this by mistake and in the other thread someone showed a 10 X 15 that is the right size for a pickup. So I will see what I can get but I think 12 X 12 is the minimum if I want full cover on a car. I don't work trucks often, maybe 5% of the time, so depending on weight and price I will go with either of those (if they are available). 16 X 16 seems way too big when I look at the pictures of those two.
