Our $1 Million Year!
Well after 30 years in this business, the last 8 years having an actual physical location we grossed over 1 million in sales. We went from 3 of us to start to now having 9 employees.
Detailing has changed for us in that we no longer do soccer mom cars, all details start at $600 so this weeds out price shoppers.
We are shifting to film and coatings exclusively. We now have 2 locations, one where we do all the film work in a a/c and heated shop and a second shop for all the polish/detail work.
We are now looking for land to buy and build or own place.
The above Subaru is getting a full color change to Carmine Red.
Take care,
Anthony

Thank you. As for not forgetting about wax, wax has a place, it's a nice beauty product but when compared to coatings it's a tough sell to people who come in looking for the best protection they can get.

Mike and Setec, thank you thank you!
I loved the time you were able to give us at the shop Mike, it was a good time.
As for others reading this, just be consistent in your business. Open and close times, quality of work, surround yourself with people who want to do and be good. My business partner Ron is a guru of social media and driving business to the shop, he has really learned a lot of stuff on the marketing end. Also big mistake we see a lot of is guys open a shop and then it becomes a "buddy" hangout. That never works out well.
My future plans will be to help a friend open up a firearms training facility here in Texas. I also have some firearms related products I hope.....hope can come to market! I can't really buff cars anymore as I have nerve damage in my arms and I don't want to do anymore damage and not be able to shoot, train and train others in shooting.
Take care,
Anthony

Yikes, Anthony, that's terrible!! Is that nerve damage from 30 years of buffing? Any words of wisdom for the forum members on how to avoid that happening?

Ya it sucks big time because I really enjoy polishing paint so now I just supervise and manage and every so often I'll sneak in a car or two myself. After about 20 minutes of polishing my hands and forearms tingle like mad. I also have my left index finger has an odd twitch to it....praise God it's not my trigger finger!!
If I had to go back years and do this over I would wear gloves designed for vibration or to reduce vibration. There are also hand and forearm exercises one can and SHOULD do to keep open the carpal areas of your wrists. Ice soaks work great as does frequent breaks. No marathon buffing sessions!!

I have some wrist problems, also. I'll have to look into those exercises.

Inspiring Anthony, would love to see what you guys do in terms of running the business/customer service/marketing/differentiation besides doing top notch work!
I remember the good old Autopia days and when coatings were new.
