How to eliminate squeaking windows???
I have a 2001 Grand Prix 2dr (mint). When the power windows go up and down, the windows squeak like crazy. I already sprayed the A and I pillar channels as well as the felt guide and sprayed the glass so it would drip down the window and onto the mechanism arm that pivots when it goes up and down, and it still squeaks. Do I have to take the plastic door panel off and physically clean and grease the heck out of the mechanism arms? First I tried Liquid Wrench Silicone, then I tried WD40 with a straw. Kind of embarrassing when the car looks damn good and there's squeaking when the window goes up and down. Any tips are appreciated.
Thanks

Could the window regulator/motor. IIRC that is sold as one unit. I’d see your mechanic

did you lube the horizantal felts on the inside and outside of the window.?,,dirt and gunk likes to get caught in them causing a squek,,especially the inside one at the top of the door panel.

Some days it's louder than others. Yesterday it was dead silent as it should be. Today it was noisy. Not sure what the problem is, if I should pop off the panel inside and do an extensive clean and grease? The felt strips are always clean when I detail so I'm not sure what it could be. I have aftermarket tint but it's always well taken care of. Stumped!

Does it sound like metal on metal or rubber on metal? From your description it feels like it would be metal on metal. In that case you may have to be inside the door panel to fix that.

Sounds exactly like this, but the speed going up and down is normal. And this is the video I went to for advice. YouTube

try to listen and detect locally the source of sound and apply some oil

My bet is the window run channels need replaced. Probably done about 300 of them Over the years working in dealers. If you look carefully, they might be worn thin from the edge of the window cutting into them over the years.
