Re: My Pad Prediction - Smaller Wool Cutting Pads for smaller rotary polishers
Mike whatever happened to this project? Did the pads ever get developed?

Sad to say but "not yet".
The problem is due to the efficiency of orbitals - I don't do a lot of rotary work so it was difficult to spend lots of time using wool pads.
The good news is RUPES released their wool pads and they were exactly what I described in this prediction. Maybe they were lurking and doing opposition research?
I like the diameter size - it works great with compact rotary buffers including CORDLESS rotary buffers
I like the pile or fiber length - too short and the pad is too hard - too long and it's floppy and you lose precision at the edge of the pad.
I like the fill ratio - too dense and the pad is too hard and also too difficult to clean.
Here's a visual indicator as to what I think of the new RUPES twisted wool pads.
It doesn't get any harder than buffing out your sanding marks on a large boat. It's grunt work. Look at what we used,
Time to buff...
I know some guys would have sanded with #3000 and then started buffing. Heck some guys would have started with #2000 or skipped the sanding step altogether. My goal was to make Royce's boat look as good as possible while saving gelcoat and also saving ourselves. This was my way, everyone can find whatever way works for you and meets your criteria as well as your expectations for quality of finish results.

The cordless FLEX PE14 with a 6.5" wool pad has plenty enough brute strength to power through this job. And no cords.

Re: My Pad Prediction - Smaller Wool Cutting Pads for smaller rotary polishers
Great Mike, I just checked the store for the Rupes Twisted Wool Pads and it looks like 5" is as small as they go. Nice size better than 6 1/2 - 7" for a cordless. Keep us up to date on any new developments and Thank you for your time.
