I have a black car but its metallic black and has a TON of metallic in it, so I guess I'm lucky. Even though I've been here for over 5+ years and learned a lot I will NEVER EVER own a non metallic black car, you couldn't pay me! Tip of the cap to those of you who do and stay ontop of it. I feel that I have made the commitment to keep my metallic black car looking its best but for me its a true DD and right now its covered in salt and muck but its protected under all of that and cleans up nicely when I can wash it.
but you gotta admit when done right, pure black is pure awesome
because I can't get enough.....

I have to agree on the beauty of a non-metallic black car. There are a couple Mercedes E-class sedans and one particular Lexus IS 350 F Sport near where I work which are very well maintained and look spectacular.
However, I'm quite happy with metallic black paint and like Klasse Act, I probably will stay with metallic. Due to the climate (i.e. salt/sand/ice/snow), and pace of life, I don't have the time to maintain a solid black car the way it deserves.
