The OCD Method of Washing Microfiber Towels

The OCD Method of Washing Microfiber Towels

I actually am NOT and OCD person or detailer. That said, I do like my microfiber towels and buffing pads clean. Here's the correct way to wash stuff. Most people do it wrong. They add add the laundry and the laundry soap while the wash tub is filling.

    Here's the right way

Let the washing machine tub FILL with water first.

    Next add your detergent...

Squeeze the sides of the bottle and the measuring chamber will fill....

NOW - LET THE AGITATOR MIX THE DETERGENT AND WATER TOGETHER FOR A UNIFORM SOAPY MIXTURE

    Then add your laundry...

This is how you do it....

By enabling the detergent to fully mix with the clean wash water you'll have a uniform mixture of soapy water.

If you add the detergent and then the laundry - or - add the laundry and then the detergent while the tub is still filling - it's harder for the laundry soap to disperse evenly throughout the full amount of water. By the time the laundry detergent does fully mix throughout all the water - the wash cycle is over.

Only takes a minute or two longer to do it this way and this is the OCD Method of Washing Microfiber Towels - for those of you who feel compelled to do all things as best as can be done.

And for those of you thinking ahead - "yes" after you finish putting all the laundry into the washing machine - then start the wash cycle over again for a full wash cycle.

    Continued....

    After the spin cycle,

Move the wet towels to the dryer....

And keep pushing through your laundry....

Let the wash tub fill with water first...

    The Clean Dirty Towel Bucket

NOTE: The Clean Dirty Towel Bucket is something everyone should have for their garage or business. When full, it's about the right amount for a full laundry load. Better yet - it keeps your towels off the ground so they don't become contaminated.

And don't forget to keep the bucket clean too. A simply wipe with any APC once in a while keeps your bucket clean.

When your towels come out of the dryer - now is the time to inspect them before storing them.

If you haven't already - click the link below, watch the video - read the article - look at the pretty pictures and then put this practice into place.

What if you have a modern machine, no agitator and that won’t fill the tub completely, ever. My machine detects how much is in there to clean and only fills enough to float that in order to avoid wasting water.

I kinda miss the old style washers... they were rougher on the clothes and wasted a bunch but sure cleaned better.

I have a front loader. This method does not work, either. Luckily it has some very long wash and rinse cycles available. A full cycle with heavy duty runs about 3.5 hours and the towels get very clean. I run two loads. One with any towel that touches wax and the other with any towel that never touches wax (i.e. window towels).

    That's true.

My wife just HAD to have one of these HE washers, and loves it.

Not me. I think they suck, but guess who's opinion rules when it comes to washing machines? Lol
It is no coincidence that man's best friend cannot talk.

Mine is a top load machine so it doesn’t have the stink problem but it’s still an HE machine and does everything it can to save, and when it comes to wash, that comes at a cost of inferior cleaning. At least I can select an extra rinse cycle.

    Just to chime in...

I feel your pain - everyone that owns a modern washing machine. There’s all kinds of GREAT reasons for new technology.

That said - the BEST washing machines for actually getting stuff clean are old school top loader washing machines with AGITATORS!

The new style top loaders with VANES are useless.

I feel your pain if you have a front loader or a vane-style top loader as they will never work as good to clean as well as old school agitator machines.

    We call this - progress.
