Also, would it be crazy to use thin pads (say BOSS) on the G8 and use thicker pads (say LC Force) on the G9 for correcting and polishing the same vehicle? My thinking is that the thinner pads can maximize the smaller profile of the G8 getting me to tighter places while a thicker pad can make using the G9 a little more comfortable.

Yancy and I are in the garage all day shooting video and then I have a product to test out and write a review for.

If I can - I'll stick a LC Force Hybrid pad on the G9 and see how it works.

Figured I'd mention this here. Griots redesigned their Microfiber Fast Finishing pad(6.5 inch). It used to be black with soft red foam and no center hole. Now it's white with a firmer red foam and a center hole. I think the new one is going to be more durable.

Any reason not to use the LC flat foam pads with the G9? Mike included the link but didn't mention them specifically. I get that pads with a hole would be preferred. I have a lot of these pads, particularly White, which is my go to for light polishing.

I can invest in other pads if necessary.

Thank you so much! I am sure I can use it, but the future viewers will probably appreciate your comment on the combo as you have used the G9 with other pads and have something to compare with.

    None at all.

I use the LC Flats with the G9, and they work like a charm.

I do (as always) switch out pads like a mad man, though. (Upward of 20 on my Ram truck).

So I cannot speak to someone trying to stretch 3-4 pads over a whole vehicle. (Not suggesting you would do that, Rippy).
It is no coincidence that man's best friend cannot talk.

Thanks for the confirmation, Paul. I have a ton of flat white pads and quite a few orange. And yeah, I changed them often. Depending on paint condition I can use one pad per panel. Maybe 2 if it's too contaminated.

Re: Foam Pad Options for the Griots G9 Polisher

FYI for anyone that has the first generation G15, if you want to try different pads, i would recommend the DA rupes pads - fits excellent on the G15 backing plate. I also tried the LC SDO Orange, doesn't fit the original backing plate has well.

I also enjoy a slightly thicker pad then the BOSS pads once i got used to them. I'm somewhat more skilled now though with correcting pad stalling. I tried to run my G15 at 3.5 at the beginning but i find it works much better at the 4.5 speed setting.

Caveat: I'm a novice, just sharing my experiences Machine polishing is my favorite detailing process though!
